It was widely predicted and sure enough, Henri Lansbury has found a way to avoid playing against Newcastle United at St James Park..
After his embarrassing cheating 11 days ago when his actions led to two players being wrongly sent off, Newcastle fans (and players no doubt) were looking forward to welcoming the Forest Captain to Tyneside only four weeks later.
It is only the route Henri Lansbury has chosen which is a surprise, as even Forest fans (see below) were forecasting that their player would bottle the Newcastle game by making sure his 10th booking of the season would be timed perfectly so a two match ban would include the Newcastle game.
Instead of that, Lansbury came down with a dubious ‘minor hamstring’ injury which led to him missing last weekend’s game against bitter rivals Derby, as well as almost certainly the Newcastle one.
Forest boss Philippe Montanier saying:
“It is bad news for him. He did not feel any pain during the week, only during the warm-up, when he felt some pain in his hamstring.
“He would normally be out for a few weeks with this.
“It is a big blow because he is an important player for us.”
From The Mag Wednesday 7 December 2016:
What Nottingham Forest fans have said about Henri Lansbury and the upcoming game at St James Park, as seen on top Forest supporters message board Forest Forum:
‘I was wondering if Henri will time it perfectly and get his 10th yellow, so he misses Wolves and NEWCASTLE.’
‘I’d bet my house on him getting that 10th yellow card before Newcastle away. He won’t fancy 50,000 Geordies screaming at him!!’
‘Was thinking the same when Newcastle fans were saying ‘wait until he comes up here’.’
