Newcastle United Official Statement: Club ban Eric Bristow
Newcastle United have banned Eric Bristow.
The club have acted to remove the darts player from an event that was due to be held at St James Park next Tuesday (6 December).
They also say that he is banned permanently due to his unacceptable behaviour.
In case you missed it, Eric Bristow used his Twitter account to put out some disgusting/crass messages regarding the developing child sex abuse scandal that is currently casting a dark shadow over football.
Credit to the club for acting so quickly – this follows hard on the heels of Sky Sports announcing earlier today that they were also dropping Bristow.
Newcastle United Official Statement:
‘In light of tweets made by the darts player Eric Bristow, Newcastle United has taken the decision today to withdraw him immediately from a scheduled appearance at an event taking place at St. James’ Park on 6th December.
The club will not work with Eric Bristow in the future. For those who have already bought tickets for the event, current player Kevin Painter has this morning confirmed he will take part.’
