Newcastle United have agreed the transfer of Juanito according to Spanish media reports on Monday night.

Juanito, or to give him his full name, Juan Jesus Núñez Cumbrera, is a 17 year old striker currently on the books of  Recreativo de Huelva.

They play in the third tier of Spanish football but have already been raided for a number of promising players, including winger/centre-forward David Alfonso who signed for Barcelona in July.

Spanish media outlets, including futbol.as, say that the deal is already done and that the player will initially train and play below the first team at Newcastle United.

It is claimed that Rafa Benitez has used contacts in his home country to pursue the deal.

Back in June this year, Rafa made clear he was going to target both young and experienced players from the continent, saying an ‘important change’ was that he was bringing in an administrator who speaks both French and Spanish, to help overseas signings settle in.

Rafa Benitez June 2016:

“Another important change we are making is to bring in an administrator to work with the players and their families.

“This will be someone who speaks English, French, Spanish, to help players settle at the club and in the city and be sure that they are able to focus 100% on the football.”
