After watching his side lose at St James Park, Neil Warnock wasn’t blaming his players.
Instead he said he was proud of his players for their second-half performance after going in 2-0 down, saying that at that point neutrals would have thought it could be ‘five or six’.
The Cardiff boss went on to say his players were if anything too honest because they hadn’t ‘made a meal of it’ like Newcastle players allegedly did to get decisions.
Despite Newcastle missing a host of chances, Neil Warnock claims that it was the match officials who decided the result.
The visiting manager believing that the first Newcastle goal shouldn’t have been allowed because of a supposed foul in the build-up, then saying the officials missed a clear penalty for a claimed Mitrovic foul.
Neil Warnock that at Championship level officials ‘should be better and they should be educated better’.
“At half-time people might have been thinking they could get five or six here and so I’m proud.
“That second goal killed us though.
“I was disappointed with the first goal – I thought that there was a dangerous kick on Lee Peltier in the build-up before the cross came in.
“You don’t often come here and see Newcastle waste time to try and get the points.
“I think that if Pelts had made a meal of it like some of the free-kicks they’ve got, he would have got it, but he gets kicked in the face and just carries on.
“I was so gutted about the penalty as he just mauls him down, Mitrovic, the linesman is fifteen yards away, the referee isn’t far away.
“At this level they should be better and they should be educated better – they should know about these kinds of pulls.
“It’s disappointing because we deserved better.”
