Leeds 0 Newcastle 2  – Sunday 20 November 1.15pm

We asked a number of our regular writers to give us a brief instant reaction after the final whistle:

Leazes Park Ender:

“Christmas came early at Elland Road.

“Handing out the gifts were Leeds Utd and their goalkeeper Rob Green.

“It was Green’s butter fingers that gave us the lead after a spell of nice early pressure. Will Gayle score an easier goal this season?

“Well, yes, actually, his second of the afternoon which sealed the three points.

“Wonderful interplay by Perez and Vurn and then a ball across. The Number 9 couldn’t miss.

“Always nice to win at Leeds. The build-up punctuated by a few of their players talking themselves up after a recent good run.

“But Rafa is on a run too. That’s now eight games on the bounce in the Championship. It’s wonderful.

“Keep it going lads.”

Jack Lacey-Hatton:

“A massive win, probably the most significant since Norwich.

“Gouffran, Gayle and Anita all outstanding for me, while Darlow should remain our number 1 for the rest of the season.”

Scott:

“The BIG mighty Leeds (!!!!!) put to bed.

“League table looking very sweet indeed at the minute.

“Cracking 3 points again.

“Unlike Leeds we are just one game at a time instead of banging on about this game for a fortnight!!!!”

Ben Cooper:

“For all the pre-match tub-thumping by Leeds past and present, in the end this was a pretty comfortable win in a less than intimidating atmosphere and against a team that was largely toothless.

“After dominating the opening half hour and most of the second half,I thought we were more likely to extend our lead by playing football than Leeds were likely to score from a ball into the box.

“So for us, onto the next game and probably complacency is now our biggest enemy and good luck to Leeds who I hope have a few more full houses and can challenge for promotion this year.

“For all this was relatively comfortable, at least it was an occasion.”

Nat Seaton:

“Marching on Together” INDEED!

“A fine team performance and what a satisfying feeling leaving Elland Road having beaten Leeds Leeds Leeds.

“A pleasure to be a Newcastle United supporter at the moment, long may it continue…”

Paul Lyon:

“Score a goal, win the game.

“Soon as we scored I felt the result was never in doubt.

“Pleased to keep the excellent run of form going and put some distance between 2nd & 3rd.

Happy days.”

Toon Bano:

“This season looks like it is gonna be a stroll.

“Only thing that can stop us is major injuries and complacency.

“Hopefully Shelvey won’t get a big suspension – he ran the game today.”

Jamie Swan

“Magnificent away performance.

“After a week of words all coming one way from the ‘mighty’ Leeds – I’m delighted we showed exactly who is boss and sent them all home piped down and with their Yorkshire puddings firmly up their collective arse.

“Cracking  weekend results elsewhere, mean we are 5 points clear of Brighton and a minimum of 4 successive losses of landing back in the play-off bun fight.

“Leeds are a big club and had terrible times. They’ll  have their day yet no doubt but not before we have wor’s.

“Happy Sunday!”

George Stainsby:

“Leeds away was always going to be a big match.

“They’ve had a very good run. And we won.

“Gerrin.”
