Rafa Benitez has been speaking on Friday lunchtime at his Cardiff press conference.

The United boss confirmed that DeAndre Yedlin has been training normally after being forced off at Preston when hit by a coin thrown from the crowd.

Dwight Gayle was also confirmed as training normally this week, although Rafa Benitez will still check on him on Saturday before deciding whether the striker will be involved against Cardiff, whether that is starting or on the bench.

Another three longer term injuries are progressing, with the Manager confirming Aarons and Elliot are getting ever closer, whilst Daryl Murphy is said to be ‘much better’.

Rafa Benitez also says that he hopes Aleksandar Mitrovic can build on his four goals in the last two matches and when asked, yet again. about the Mitrovic/Gayle partnership question…simply replied that he wouldn’t rule out and that he is lucky to have two ‘good players who can score goals’.

Rafa Benitez:

“We know that Cardiff City  is a team that has changed a bit. We are expecting a tough game.

“Rolando Aarons is getting closer, Daryl Murphy is much better,  Rob Elliot has been doing almost normal training sessions.

“Mitro has been very good in these last two games (v Preston) and hopefully he can continue scoring goals, Gayle too.

“I won’t say when (Gayle & Mitrovic might play together)  but what I do know is both are good players who can score goals.

“We’ve been working on different options so hopefully we can keep that level. The players are doing what they have to do.”
