Rafa Benitez talked on Monday about the difficulties of keeping a squad of 27 players happy.

The United boss saying that you couldn’t just play the same 13 or 14 players and you had to make sure you kept everybody’s interest, by ensuring that all players felt they had a chance of playing at any particular time.

Well there are three players that Rafa Benitez doesn’t have to worry about keeping happy this time.

Rafa has confirmed ahead of the fourth round cup-tie that Achraf Lazaar has a ‘little problem’ and won’t play.

Many Newcastle supporters will be disappointed that the Moroccan international won’t be on view tonight, whilst another possibility at left-back won’t be available either.

The Newcastle Manager confirming that Jesus Gamez won’t be risked, as will be the case with Daryl Murphy.

Rafa Benitez  indicating that this pair could have possibly been rushed back but with the strength of the squad there is no need to risk them.

Paul Dummett looks pretty certain to once again play, unless Rafa Benitez gives Ciaran Clark another game there.

Rafa Benitez speaking to the Chronicle:

“The players who were injured before are the same.

“Daryl Murphy, Achraf Lazaar who has a little problem, and Jesus Gamez, it is too early because I don’t want to take any risks with any of them.

“We have enough players (without having) to use them.

“When the players are fully fit then they will start training.

“Then I can play them – but at the moment we have enough players and will use others.”
