Here is the predicted Newcastle team v Ipswich.

Never that easy predicting a Rafa Benitez team but here goes.

The Manager did leave Mohamed Diame out of the last home match, the team winning 3-1 though Ayoze Perez didn’t exactly inspire as the Senegal international’s replacement.

Diame was back in for the trip to Barnsley and of course another win, though once again the player in behind Dwight Gayle failing to give much in an attacking sense.

On Friday, Rafa Benitez once again made clear that he won’t be playing with two out and out strikers, with Mitrovic only likely to get a game if for whatever reason Dwight Gayle isn’t selected.

I just wonder if Rafa might give Yoan Gouffran a go in that free role behind the main striker. He can certainly put in the work rate and Newcastle bought him in as a striker from Bordeaux, so why couldn’t/wouldn’t it work.

Bringing Gouffran inside, would also open up the possibility of playing both Atsu and Ritchie, to give Ipswich something to think about on both sides of the pitch.

Ipswich are an out and out defensive team and I have a feeling that extra flair would be welcome in the United team to break them down today.

Hayden was back in alongside Shelvey on Tuesday and looks good in that supporting role, whilst the back five appears to pretty much pick itself again.

Vurnon Anita has been the more likely starter at right-back but maybe Rafa might just freshen it up and give extra pace from Yedlin to link up with Ritchie.
