Newcastle v Preston Player Ratings – Guess who your man of the match was…

The results of the Newcastle v Preston player ratings.

A dominant team performance, six goals – but there was only ever going to be one winner.

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a good opening goal and then added an excellent second, throw in a booking for his goal celebration and an almighty strop when Matt Ritchie wouldn’t let him take the penalty…just another day in Mitro-World.

The supporters have awarded Mitro top marks of 9.1 and that selfish penalty taker picks up best supporting role with 8.4.

In third place it was a tie of 8.3 for both Christian Atsu and sub Jonjo Shelvey, both proving far too hot for a Preston side featuring nine changes to handle.

Three others also earned a mark of 8.0 or better, with DeAndre Yedlin (8.1) once again standing out with his pace, whilst two goal Mohamed Diame (8.0) scored his first couple of goals and Isaac Hayden (8.0) put in a very dominant performance and deserved to see his left foot effort in the back if the net rather than rebound off the post.

Nobody seen as having a bad game, with only Jack Colback (6.7) falling before 7.0 but he never got a chance to really show much before being butchered out of the game.

The other four starters all receiving marks ranging from 7.1 to 7.3 and no surprise to see it being back five members Sels (7.2), Dummett (7.3), Hanley (7.1) and Mbemba (7.3) – none of them having a great deal to do as Preston registered just one shot at goal.

Below are the ratings as voted by Newcastle fans up to 11am on Wednesday lunchtime:
