Jonjo Shelvey has gone that extra step this week in his responsibilities to Newcastle United and the community.

After helping Newcastle win 1-0 at Rotherham, the midfielder had something else in mind to fill his time in during the international break.

Jonjo Shelvey made a surprise visit to Shanklea Primary School for a special assembly.

There, he was reunited with Joshua Follin, who had found himself in the spotlight at St James Park last week.

When Dwight Gayle made it 4-3 against Norwich with his match winning goal, the players all ran to the Milburn/Leazes corner to celebrate, with Jonjo Shelvey hoisting ballboy Joshua up in the air.

The nine year old was presented by Jonjo Shelvey with a special signed photo of the moment when meeting the player at the school assembly.

Top marks to Shelvey for doing this and as he says, the players should be getting out and about doing a lot more of this type of thing.
