The Championship form table suggests a real clash of two form teams today.

It would be nice to think of today’s Preston v Newcastle match going the way of Tuesday’s cup one – but this table below shows that it is very unlikely to be much of a guide to the Championship one. The nine changes Preston made on Tuesday, clearly weakened them a lot more than Newcastle did with their seven.

With five wins following the draw against Aston Villa, Newcastle are top of the Championship form table with 16 points from a possible 18.

However, right behind them with 14 points and four wins & two draws, are Preston.

In their last three, Preston have played the teams in second, third and fourth places in the current Championship, beating Norwich and Huddersfield, drawing with Brighton.

It is nice to get used to a winning feeling once again and Newcastle are currently on their second five match winning run of the season.

However, looking at the form going into today, is this a match where you would settle for a point?
