Aleksandar Mitrovic scored twice on Saturday to hand Newcastle United yet another three points.

The two clubs were first and second in the recent form table but the Serbian striker proved the difference between the two sides.

It was four goals in only five days as Mitro had scored twice in the cup as well against Preston.

Making the most of a rare chance with Dwight Gayle out injured, the former Anderlecht forward looks well up for the task.

The Newcastle star now subsequently named in the EFL team of the week, with their official website stating:

“After scoring two EFL Cup goals against Preston North End in midweek, Mitrovic repeated the feat in the Sky Bet Championship against the same opposition over the weekend.

“The Serb netted two second-half goals, firing the Magpies to a seventh straight success in all competitions.”
