This 4-4-2 Newcastle team v Brentford can light the fuse…

This is the 4-4-2 Newcastle team v Brentford that is waiting to go into battle on Saturday.

I now find myself thinking that if I say it enough times then the Mitrovic & Gayle partnership will happen.

Rafa Benitez was careful not to say that his praise of Aleksandar Mitrovic’ goals for Serbia didn’t automatically mean e would be playing…but maybe after an international break it is easier to make difficult changes.

The United boss has said that certain players have been feeling the effects of their international commitments, so just maybe this is the time to drop Mohamed Diame to the bench and take him out of the firing line?

The player himself admitted this week that his attacking play has been lacking and only sheer hard work has kept him in the team. Maybe against Brentford NUFC will need a little more than sheer hard work to break them down.

Gouffran and Hayden didn’t play international football so hard to see anything but that they should start, whilst Isaac Hayden played in a 5-0 win for England Under 21s and says he’s had a chat with Rafa Benitez to refocus after being left out of the last two matches.

Both Christian Atsu and Matt Ritchie have been away playing for their countries but I fancy the Ghanaian winger to keep his place, with Matt Ritchie and Scotland having had a hard time of it.

The Clark & Lascelles partnership has looked decent in recent games and hard to see why change should be made, whilst Dummett has been steady enough and other options such as Lazaar and Gamez aren’t feasible at the minute.

Interesting debate at right-back but certainly at home I think we need Yedlin’s pace to give an extra attacking angle to the team.

My suggested Newcastle team v Brentford:

To create the image above, Sam Hepworth used the NUFC team selector.

You can do the same by following the simple instructions HERE and then there are a number of great options where you can then also share your team via Twitter (include @nufcthemag in your tweet and we will share some of them with our 20k followers) , or you can share the selector on Facebook with friends, family and the rest of the black and white world. Alternatively, simply downloading the team image to the device you are using

When using the NUFC team selector you simply click on what team formation (4-3-3, 4-4-2 etc) you want, then click each position on the pitch and choose from the Newcastle United squad.

Go to the NUFC team selector now and choose and share your Newcastle team v Brentford.

Before every match, simply go to the menu at the top of this screen and click features, then on the drop down list click NUFC Team Selector and choose your team for every match.
