This is the Newcastle team v Rotherham that is just waiting to be unleashed.

If Wednesday night proved anything, it is that this Newcastle team are much better when getting on the front foot, rather than sitting back and trying to grind out results.

This Rotherham match must be the opportunity to finally give the Gayle and Mitrovic pairing a chance.

At the other end of the pitch, it was ironic that after the majority of fans wanted Darlow to replace Sels, that it became the first game of the season when Newcastle leaked more than two goals.

As it happens, Karl Darlow couldn’t have done anything to prevent those Norwich goals and is surely set to keep his place.

At the back, it must surely be time to ‘rest’ Paul Dummett, though it does give a problem as Lazaar didn’t look ready when facing Wolves in the League Cup, whilst Jesus Gamez is set to miss at least another month.

I would go with three at the back, especially as with Ritchie and Yedlin we now have the perfect wing-backs. Both of them having the pace/stamina to get up and down the pitch, defending and creating.

Shelvey is an essential choice, whilst surely Hayden will come back in for Colback who was poor against Norwich.

Finally, whilst Yoan Gouffran has been contributing both with work rate and goals, he never looks comfortable out wide on the left.

Moving inside I think he can give the team much more and get in and around Gayle and Mitrovic to give United more goal threat.

Bring it on!
