Only hours after joining Darlington on a ‘work experience loan’, 18 year old goalkeeper Paul Woolston helped them to a great win at Bradford Park Avenue.

Woolston was called into action at Bradford Park Avenue on Wednesday night after agreeing a move earlier in the day, first choice Darlo keeper Peter Jameson being out with a thigh injury.

Goalkeeper is one position where Newcastle undoubtedly look healthy right throughout the club, from first team level down to England Under 20 international Freddie Woodman and Paul Woolston.

Woolston has played for England at under 17 level and first came to prominence when making his Newcastle Under 21s debut as a 15 year old and kept a clean sheet against Manchester United.

He was actually on Darlington’s books as a schoolboy but as an outfield player before turning to goalkeeping and joining Newcastle.

Paul Woolston had a fine game last night and could do little as Bradford Park Avenue opened the scoring in this Vanarama National League North match.

However,  it turned out to be a great debut in the end as Darlington fought back and won 2-1 with two late goals from Liam Hardy and Terry Galbraith,

This victory leaves Darlington in fourth place and only one point off the top of the table.

The goals footage is below and whilst Paul Woolston did well, I don’t think the Bradford Park Avenue keeper will have been too happy with the winner!
