The Newcastle v Wolves player ratings as voted by United fans.

We all waited to see how the team would react after Saturday’s surprise defeat and with eight changes Rafa shuffled his pack.

So what did the Newcastle fans make of each player on the pitch?

Easily the player of the season so far and back to his best, Matt Ritchie (8.7) was by far and away your man of the match.

The winger a threat all night and after scoring an excellent goal, made another for the fan ratings runner-up, Yoan Gouffran (7.9), the Frenchman back in the team and keeping his sequence going – played seven won seven this season.

Next up was Karl Darlow (7.7), made a few excellent saves including a one on one when the score was still goalless, looked confident throughout and is he a live contender to stay in the team on Saturday?

Two others in the starting eleven were given ratings of 7.0 or higher, with DeAndre Yedlin (7.5) making an excellent first start in the team and surely guaranteed a place against Villa with Anita’s suspension. Meanwhile Grant Hanley (7.1) impressed at the heart of the defence and no surprise if we maybe see him at Villa Park as well.

Nobody had a really bad game but Achraf Lazaar (6.1) struggled at times and appears to need more time to adapt to life in English football.

Diame (6.6) and Shelvey (6.7) were along with Matt Ritchie the only three players to stay in the team from Saturday and they played decent supporting roles to the likes of Ritchie and Gouffran.

Ciaran Clark (6.9) having a decent game alongside Hanley, whilst I think Daryl Murphy (6.5) has been a little marked down as he had a decent game and if he had tucked one of a few chances away then no doubt he would have caught the eye more and probably scored over 7.0.

Below are the ratings as voted by Newcastle fans up to 1pm on Wednesday.
