Newcastle United have revealed that they had already turned down an offer for Cheick Tiote from a team playing in the Qatar Stars League.
Rafa Benitez saying that now Newcastle are ‘just waiting for the right chance’ for Cheick Tiote to still leave this month.
Football kicks off once again in Qatar this coming week and there are just under two weeks of their transfer window remaining.
A move to Galatasaray failing in the final days of the Turkish transfer window, with conflicting claims of failed medicals and Cheick Tiote not happy with the offer of wages.
With pretty much every other country ruled out with their transfer windows now closed, plus obviously no place for him in Rafa Benitez’ plans no matter what the Newcastle boss says…
Surely the club will be much more willing at this point to bend further and make a deal happen, get one of their biggest earners off the wage bill and maybe even bank a few riyals (Qatari currency).
“We had an offer (for Cheick Tiote) before from the Emirates, still we know the transfer window is open at the Emirates, so it is an opportunity.
“He is training well, he is doing well, really pleased with him but at the moment – because we are waiting on just this last option – he will not be involved (at Derby).
“To be fair, since I came here last season, he has been a great professional, done really well. So we are just waiting for the right chance for him.
“If it is possible…if it is not then we have to try to bring the best from him.”
