Alan Shearer has been pointing out Sunderland’s frailties as they drop to rock bottom of the table with only one point from a possible 18.
Crystal Palace winning 3-2 at the Stadium of Light.
The Mackems went 2-0 up on the hour mark, only to concede in the 61st and 76th minute.
Newcastle legend and fan Alan Shearer has pointed to Sunderland’s weakness in not being able to see a game out after looking so comfortable, conceding in the final stages with Benteke grabbing the winner for Alan Pardew.
All a little too close to home though, as Newcastle showed very similar limitations at Villa Park only a couple of hours after that Sunderland defeat.
Newcastle United were far more dominant against a really poor Villa side and crumbled badly in those final 20 minutes, plus the home side didn’t really do anything special apart from throwing a few crosses in and hoping for the best.
Alan Shearer writing for The Sun:
“As a Newcastle fan I don’t mean to rub salt into the wounds but blimey Sunderland!
“You are 2-0 up at home against a worthy but mid-table opponent and you cannot see the game out.
“The late concession of goals suggests a real lack of concentration.
“Three times they have conceded in the final five minutes this season costing them four points.”
