Rafa Benitez has revealed that DeAndre Yedlin could be missing for what looks a crunch game against table toppers Norwich City.

The United boss explaining that the USA international twisted his ankle against Aston Villa, forcing him to limp off and be a doubt for Wednesday night.

After his man of the match performance, it would be doubly cruel on Rafa Benitez if DeAndre Yedlin isn’t available.

The former Spurs player was excellent both going forward and defending but the manager’s other two options are also unavailable.

Vurnon Anita is suspended (will miss Norwich but available again for Rotherham), whilst Jesus Gamez is still injured, plus of course Jamie Sterry is out on loan at Coventry.

Fair to say I think Newcastle fans would be happy to see any of those three (Gamez, Yedlin, Anita) in at right-back, so interesting to see who Rafa would trust with the job if the USA international doesn’t make it.

Hayden looked uncomfortable there when deputising late on at Villa, plus of course we need his energy in the middle of the park.

Chancel Mbemba could be possibly the best option with the former Anderlecht player having played there before.

Rafa Benitez:

“We will have to wait and see (for Norwich), he (DeAndre Yedlin) twisted his ankle.

“I don’t like to talk too much about one player but I think the team as a team was good in attack.

“We knew in the first half that Paul Dummett and he (DeAndre Yedlin) could be important players for us and they did really well.

“After the substitution of DeAndre Yedlin, maybe we had to adjust things and sometimes you cannot control everything.”
