2 wins, 3 draws, 2 defeats and an abandoned game for Newcastle loan players
The Premier League and Championship may have been taking a rest but there were seven Newcastle loan players named in matchday squads on Saturday.
The players experiencing varying levels of success.
Fleetwood 2 Coventry 0
Jamie Sterry had a decent debut and made a superb clearance off the line when the score was still 0-0.
Sadly two goals from the home side meant a 2-0 defeat on his Coventry debut – elsewhere in the team recent (permanent) signing from Newcastle, Gael Bigirimana, was man of the match for the Sky Blues.
Carlisle 1 Accrington 1
Carlisle remain the only unbeaten club in League Two, with Newcastle’s Macauley Gillesphey playing the full 90 minutes in defence.
Oldham 2 Shrewsbury 3
Ivan Toney (pictured above) helped his loan club to an away win at Oldham, scoring the second goal from the penalty spot after winning the spot-kick himself.
Bolton 1 Southend 1
Bolton stayed top of League One but couldn’t make their domination count. Recovering from an early goal by the visitors they couldn’t find a winner, Sammy Ameobi getting the final 12 minutes from the bench.
Newport v Barnet (Abandoned)
Kyle Cameron was an unused substitute as Newport trailed Barnet to an early goal, only for the match to be abandoned at half-time due to the amount of water on the pitch.
Millwall 1 Bradford 1
No sign of Haris Vuckic despite Bradford City only naming six substitutes.
Luton 4 Wycombe 1
Luton Town are top of League One after seeing off Wycombe Wanderers, Alex Gilliead an unused sub.
Stevenage 6 Hartlepool 1
Tom Heardman watched the 90 minutes from the bench as Hartlepool scored the first goal after only four minutes and then got a real hiding.
