Being nearly 40, I have seen ups and downs with Newcastle United since I was a kid.  More downs I would guess, like most Newcastle fans…

Last season was my daughter’s first as a season ticket holder – she’s 11.

I bet some of you are thinking ‘My God, what a harsh soul I am putting her through this’!! You may well be right.

I couldn’t have picked a worse season to drag her through this because my God it was desperate at times.

However, now that we as a club have turned a corner and heading to better things (I hope and pray)…

Something has got a hold on her, the bug that comes with supporting the black and whites.

Now it’s her that is buzzing about players we are signing, or the buzz of going to the next game, having a laugh and going with the flow.

I joke to my mates that I’m giving her the harsh reality of life – that it’s not all a bed of roses. That this is what its like being black and white.

So to all of you who think the same about why we put up with all this, my answer is…sometimes I really don’t know.

Will Rafa get us to where we need to be again? I hope so.

Something feels good again.

The first time in a long time I’m really looking forward to the season ahead, with more hope than ever.

In Rafa we trust.
