Amid much amusement from Newcastle fans, the Dutch media have today confirmed that Siem de Jong has passed his medical to join PSV on loan.

De Telegraaf say that after the successful medical, the Newcastle midfielder’s move will be officially announced today (Monday).

At the weekend, PSV’s Director of Football, Marcel Brands, claimed that the injury problems suffered by Siem de Jong had been ‘a bit exaggerated’.

PSV have Champions League football to look forward to once again and have started the season with three wins out of three.

The latest of those being a 4-0 away win over PEC Zwolle, with Luuk de Jong scoring his first goal of the season.

Siem’s brother is looking forward to playing with his brother after passing up the chance of doing so at Newcastle, when he claims he could have signed permanently after a loan spell but chose PSV instead.

However, the PSV Captain will have to wait a little longer to be reunited with his brother on the pitch, as despite passing his medical, Siem de Jong is still recovering from his latest (hamstring) injury…

Luuk de Jong talking to De Telegraaf:

“It’s a good opportunity for him (Siem de Jong) to show himself once again at the highest level.

“For PSV it is good to have a lot of competition as we e are entering a tough season and need a wide selection of players.

“Once before we had the chance to play together when Siem went to Newcastle, I could have stayed there eventually but I chose to go to PSV .

“It’s great that we can play together now.”
