Newcastle United are currently in talks to sign Achraf Lazaar on Friday afternoon, according to reports in Italy.
Journalist Alfredo Pedulla says that agreement is set to be reached today on a £3m deal, with a five year contract for the player.
Pedulla is a bit better than your average Italian ‘sources’, for example last summer he was saying the likes of Mitrovic and Wijnaldum were coming to Newcastle long before they were signed.
On Thursday, it was The Times who revealed that Newcastle had initiated talks with Palermo for the player and now Alfredo Pedulla says that the final thing to be agreed is bonuses relating to the player’s performance at Newcastle and a possible sell-on clause.
Marseille are one of the clubs who had shown interest before Newcastle’s intervention for the Serie A left-back.
Achraf Lazaar has five caps for Morocco and has been first choice for Palermo over the course of the past two and a half seasons.
However, the 24 year old was only a substitute when Palermo kicked off their competitive football with a cup game and then on Sunday when they started their Serie A campaign, Lazaar wasn’t named in the matchday squad.
