After the 4-1 defeat of Reading, one Newcastle star has made the official EFL team of midweek.

Choosing from across the three divisions, the official EFL website has included Isaac Hayden in their top eleven, judged on performances this midweek.

Their write-up (full team below) on the Newcastle midfielder:

Dwight Gayle netted twice as Newcastle picked up their first Sky Bet Championship success of the season, but Hayden was the star of the show.

The 21-year-old was everywhere for the Magpies, scoring one and making two in the 4-1 defeat of Reading.’

Isaac Hayden scored the first and made the last goal, plus I’m guessing he was fouled for either the Gayle free-kick or Ritchie penalty to be credited for making one of the other two goals.

Both he and Gayle were two of Newcastle’s better performers but in our player ratings voted by fans, Matt Ritchie was yet again man of the match by some distance, making it three out of three so far.
