Daryl Janmaat has got his way and is staying in the Premier League.

Sky Sports revealing that the Dutch international is now on his way to Watford for his medical.

Covering the north east for the satellite broadcaster, Keith Downie says that the agreed fee is around £7.5m.

Napoli, West Ham and Watford had all been linked with the Newcastle full-back in recent days but late Tuesday afternoon, The Mail said that Newcastle United had accepted they had to compromise on their original £10m asking price.

Janmaat had made clear that he didn’t want to drop into the Championship and on Monday Rafa Benitez stated that they would consider selling the player, if an offer was received that was ‘fantastic’ for club and/or player.

Newcastle have clearly had to compromise on the ‘fantastic’ transfer fee they were hoping for and no doubt Daryl Janmaat has had to do the same, with Watford (no disrespect!) not exactly what he would have had in mind.

Tuesday night also brought news that Tottenham right-back DeAndre Yedlin had arrived in Newcastle for his medical, ahead of a £4m move.
