Claims on Monday morning that a loan deal has been agreed for Newcastle forward Ivan Toney.
Last season he made 18 League One appearances for Barnsley over the course of two loan spells, helping them to promotion to the Championship as well as winning the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
The 20 year old wasn’t allocated a squad number ahead of the match at Fulham, appearing to confirm the strong likelihood of another loan deal.
With HITC reporting this morning that their information is that Ivan Toney is to join Shrewsbury in his latest loan deal.
Toney made only two brief substitute appearances for Newcastle in the Premier League last season and is obviously in need of regular football if he is to progress.
Shrewsbury are a League One side and probably the right level for the striker, meanwhile Monday morning has seen claims in the local media that Rafa is planning on also sending Adam Armstrong out on loan again.
Claims over the weekend that Mitrovic was to be sold have been dismissed by alleged sources close to the club, whilst the Chronicle claim this morning that Newcastle are determined to bring in another striker as soon as possible to provide more competition.
A combination of which will make it even harder for Adam Armstrong to get much game time. A second half sub on Friday night, he struggled (like most of his team-mates) to make any impression against a resolute Fulham defence.
