Speaking ahead of their first match on Sunday night away at Chievo, Frank de Boer has been quizzed about the transfer market and Moussa Sissoko in particular.
Linked with Inter Milan regularly throughout the summer, Sky Sports in Italy yesterday claimed that the new Inter boss was keen on taking the Newcastle midfielder to the club.
Frank de Boer was regularly linked with the Newcastle manager’s job in recent seasons but moved to Italy only two weeks ago as the replacement for Roberto Mancini.
At his press conference ahead of the Chievo match, de Boer responded to questions about the claimed interest in Moussa Sissoko and Sporting Lisbon’s Joao Mario.
Frank de Boer:
“We need to assess the squad and see what happens in the transfer market. Joao Mario and Moussa Sissoko are good players”
Friday saw Rafa Benitez once again talking about his wantaway player and says he is happy to sell…if somebody meets Rafa’s and Newcastle’s asking price:
“Moussa Sissoko is now the big name in the market and if someone wants Moussa they have to pay.
“If we are happy with the price and he (Sissoko) is happy, then we can maybe consider.
“But if we aren’t happy, then he can stay here and I would be really, really pleased to keep him.”
