The team might not have quite kicked into gear in the opening game of the season but Newcastle fans continue to snap up the tickets.

United kicked off the season at Fulham with the backing of up to around 7,000 fans in a sell out crowd at Craven Cottage. Newcastle fans buying up the official allocation of 2,750 and then also taking over the vast majority of tickets for the adjoining ‘mixed’ zone.

Sadly Ashton Gate has no ‘mixed’ area which would have allowed for extra semi-official away tickets but Newcastle United have now confirmed that all 2,500 of the tickets provided by Bristol City have now been sold.

Considering it is one of the more difficult venues to get to, admirable stuff that all the tickets are gone with 11 days still remaining until the match (Saturday 20 August).

Monday of course brought news that with over 50,000 tickets already sold, Saturday’s opening home game against Huddersfield is almost guaranteed to be a total 52,000 total sell out as well.

Official Newcastle United confirmation:

‘Newcastle United’s allocation for their Sky Bet Championship fixture at Bristol City later this month has sold out.

Rafa Benitez’s new-look Magpies make the trip to Ashton Gate on Saturday, 20th August, (3pm kick-off), but despite the long distance from Tyneside to the Westcountry, all 2,500 tickets for the away end have now been snapped up.

United will be looking to get a first away win of 2016/17 under their belts, and could include new signings Mohamed Diame, Ciaran Clark, Matt Ritchie, Dwight Gayle, Grant Hanley, Matz Sels, Isaac Hayden and Jesus Gamez in their squad for the fixture.’
