Earlier on Tuesday, BBC Sport confirmed that Ciaran Clark was travelling to Newcastle for his medical.
The BBC reporting that the release clause figure was £5.1m and that Clark is leaving despite the Villa management wanting him to stay.
The Villa defender arrived in Newcastle this afternoon for his medical and is pictured below at the Newcastle United training ground.
Captaining England at youth level, Ciaran Clark eventually committed to the Republic of Ireland and played in this summer’s Euros in France.
He can play in various positions – left-back, defensive midfield, as well as centre of defence where he normally operates.
Last season he was restricted to 18 Premier League appearances due to various injuries (and left on the bench at times), Aston Villa collapsing and finishing bottom of the table.
