Sunday is looking anything but the day of rest where Newcastle are concerned, with Cheick Tiote set to be the third deal of the day.

The club this morning confirmed Daryl Murphy was now a Newcastle player, then Sunday lunchtime found Sky Sports revealing Achraf Lazaar’s move was complete, with NUFC to officially confirm shortly.

Now news from Turkey that Cheick Tiote is currently en route to Istanbul.

Turkish daily newspaper Hurriyet state that the Newcastle midfielder is on a plane which will land 2.30pm local time (4.30pm UK).

They say that Cheick Tiote is on his way to sign for Galatasaray, with the club having settled on the wantaway midfielder after failing to sign Lassana Diarra from Marseille.

Cheick Tiote is clearly not in Rafa Benitez’ plans and hasn’t made any of the six matchday squads this season, even when Rafa put out almost an entirely changed team for the Cheltenham League Cup match.

Galatasaray are looking to work their way back to the upper reaches after dropping from Champions in 2014/15 to sixth place last season, a massive 28 points behind title winners Besiktas.
