One of the most disastrous Graham Carr Newcastle signings (against some pretty stiff opposition…) looks to have eventually found himself a new club.

The summer of 2010/11 saw Sylvain Marveaux sign a five year contract at St James Park, arriving from Rennes.

Not quite five years later, Newcastle paid up the contracts of both Marveaux and Gabriel Obertan and sent them packing before the end of last season and their contracts at last coming to a close on 30 June 2016.

In those five long years of Premier League wages paid out by Newcastle, Sylvain Marveaux only started 13 Premier League matches, scoring one goal.

In the final three years and two months of his time at NUFC, the French winger only started two league games.

No news on Obertan as yet but Sylvain Marveaux is in talks with Ligue 1 club Lorient.

They finished 15th in France’s top division last season and  Le Télégramme report that the deal 30 year old Marveuax is considering is for an initial one year contract, with an option for a second season.
