Well, as pre-season run-outs go, Saturday afternoon’s stroll against Bohemian FC was one of the better ones.

Spirits high amongst the fans beforehand and carried through into the match where they saw their team put six (watch them all below) past the hosts without reply.

Newcastle used 22 players whilst Bohemian FC had a league match less than 24 earlier on Friday night (and made seven changes), going down 3-1 to Shamrock Rovers.

So as a football contest you wouldn’t really know what to make of it.

However, purely as entertainment what more can you ask for 20 days before the proper stuff kicks off?

Looking at the goals below, with six different goalscorers, I would go for Aarons for best of the six, followed by the efforts from Ritchie and Gayle.

Bohemian FC 0 Newcastle United 6

Ritchie 15, Mitrovic 30 pen, Gayle 52, Thauvin 55, Aarons 59, Wijnaldum 75

Newcastle United starting 11 (and 11 subs!):

Matz Sels (Karl Darlow 46); Jamie Sterry (Daryl Janmaat 46), Chancel Mbemba (Isaac Hayden 46), Jamaal Lascelles (c) (Jesus Gamez 76), Vurnon Anita (Georginio Wijnaldum 69); Henri Saivet (Cheick Tiote 76), Jack Colback (Jonjo Shelvey 46); Matt Ritchie (Florian Thauvin 46), Yoan Gouffran (Ayoze Perez 49), Rolando Aarons (Paul Dummett 61); Aleksandar Mitrovic (Dwight Gayle 46)

All six goals from today’s Newcastle win over Bohemian FC.
