Tuesday morning brought the news that at last Newcastle United had reached agreement with Blackburn Rovers for the transfer of Grant Hanley.
The central defender travelled to Tyneside (pictured below) to complete once agreement was reached on a reported £5.5m deal.
United had seen bids of £3.5m and £4.5m turned down, before an extra million sealed the move.
No details at the moment as to whether there will be any add-ons, with a bonus on promotion previously claimed as part of any deal.
Tuesday night saw Blackburn play their third friendly of pre-season and yet again Grant Hanley was not involved.
Once his transfer is confirmed after the medical, we will then see how quickly his alleged ‘knee injury’ clears up.
After tonight’s friendly at Doncaster, Newcastle then travel to Lokeren (Belgium) on Saturday and then Southend on Tuesday (26 July), before completing the pre-season schedule with the only home friendly, at home to Vitesse Arnhem on Saturday 30 July.
Rafa Benitez will be keen to get Grant Hanley integrated into the squad as soon as possible, so we can expect to see him as soon as he’s fit enough to get involved.
