With buoyant sales, Fulham have removed their remaining tickets from general sale for the Newcastle match.
The Magpies may still have it all to prove once the action starts on the pitch but early indications are that Newcastle United’s relegation is going to be good news off the pitch for other Championship clubs.
With so many tickets sold already, Fulham are restricting the sale only to season ticket holders and other Fulham fans who have previously bought tickets, to give them a chance of getting to see their team play in the opening home game of the season.
Last season, Fulham recorded their highest attendance against Bristol City, with 20,316 inside Craven Cottage.
At the moment the capacity is given as 25,700, with something close to that figure set to watch the Cottagers take on Newcastle.
Newcastle will have the backing of some 2,700 official fans, plus the adjoining ‘neutral/mixed’ sections in the Putney End.
With the game being screened live, it makes the ticket sales all the more impressive.
