Newcastle United complete their friendly pre-season schedule with a home match against Vitesse Arnhem.

The Dutch club only finished ninth in the league last season but arguably will be United’s toughest game so far in what will be their fifth and final friendly.

The Championship kicks off at Craven Cottage next Friday and then two weeks today, Newcastle host Huddersfield in the first home match of the season.

Today we are likely to see at least most of Rafa Benitez’ (from the players available) first eleven take the pitch as he prepares his team for competitive football.

Jesus Gamez is expected to be available after being suspended for the Southend match, whilst hopefully Matt Ritchie will shake off the knock that kept him out of the last two games.

Main points of interest against Vitesse Arnhem are likely to be which goalkeeper starts, who plays left-back, and which players are used in central midfield.
