Has anybody seen my principles?

Well Andros Townsend has bailed out, to be followed by Moussa Sissoko and Gini Wijnaldum no doubt.

Relegation will  be the reason they give and they will say it would have hurt their careers if they had remained.

In my eyes, any player the Toon wants to keep, but who chooses to bail out, should be slaughtered for not facing up to the truth.

The truth is amongst all of the problems that exist at SJP – it was the players on the pitch who lost the points that took us down.

They should all be prepared to give it at least one season to put right the wrongs and get us back up.

Rafa Benitez has gambled his reputation on restoring us to where we should be, so why can’t the players Rafa would like to keep, stay and redeem themselves?

We saw in patches that at times they could be excellent so we know they have the ability, but it appears on some days some of them just did not fancy it, Sissoko in particular.

We are told Penfold did not build in wage reductions in the event of relegation so I assume no one is losing money.

If these players remained and fought to get the Toon back up, then their reputations as players and men would be enhanced.

Unfortunately, it appears most of the current day footballers are a bunch of mercenary, spoilt, and usually thick, bums.

Oh for men of the calibre of Shearer, Albert, Keegan and Lee etc.
