Shola Ameobi is back on the open market and looking for a new club.
The former Newcastle striker has been allowed to leave Fleetwood at the end of his contract, having played his part in helping the League One side avoid relegation to League Two.
Fleetwood eventually survived by five points and two places, scoring one goal in 10 appearances, seven of them in the starting 11.
After leaving St James Park in summer 2014, Shola Ameobi surprisingly rocked up in the second tier of Turkish football at Gaziantep, scoring four goals in 11 games before agreeing an early release from his contract there.
A surprise temporary move to Alan Pardew and Palace followed, with four Premier League appearances from the bench during his short-term contract.
Last summer and early this season saw Shola Ameobi having trials at various Championship clubs before Bolton took him on, the former United striker scoring twice in eight games before his release due to their financial meltdown.
After Fleetwood in League One it will be interesting to see where Shola Ameobi turns up next, still only 34 he looks to have one or two clubs still left in him.
Altogether Fleetwood Town announced 14 players would leave at the end of their contracts, with Shola Ameobi the most well known.
