Rangers fans don’t hold back in comments on Steven Taylor maybe signing…

Steven Taylor parts company with Newcastle United at the end of June, the central defender having a, fair to say, up and down career at St James Park.

A larger than life character, the 30 year old Geordie has certainly provoked strong opinions in his time at St James Park.

The same can be said since the news came through yesterday, Steven Taylor linked with a number of clubs and claiming himself that he has already had offers from a number of clubs both home and abroad.

One of those clubs is Rangers (as well as Celtic), with media reports saying that Taylor had been in touch with former team-mate Joey Barton, to sound him out about the possibility of joining him at Ibrox.

For both Newcastle fans and neutrals, it would be intriguing if Steven Taylor ended up at one of the old firm clubs.

However, what do Rangers fans think about the possibility?

We checked out their views by visiting the top Rangers message board Rangers Media to see what they think about the idea…:

‘Noticed on (Sky Sports News that the big guy (Steven Taylor) has refused a 1 Year deal with Newcastle and wants to try something new..!?

Admittedly he has had injury problems and might be looking for big bucks, I think getting this no nonsense centre half on a pay as you play deal could prove to be a fantastic piece of business for Rangers.’

‘No way will he accept a pay as you play deal with us and he is f***ing terrible.’

‘F*** that, he is honking.’

‘Honking.

Made of chocolate.

Big wages.’

‘Apart from that its a decent shout….’

‘No thank you.’

‘My  son is a better centre half ffs, and he’s a 9yr old left winger!’

‘African 9 or UK 9?’

‘He’s not a bad player but under 300 apps in 13 year shows he is too injury prone to take a punt on.’

‘One of the worst CBs I’ve ever seen in the English league.’

‘Atrocious defender.’

‘A big useless bag of shi*e.’

‘Would rather Dennis Taylor.’

‘Would rather have a life size cardboard cut out of Dennis the Menace.’

‘Can’t fathom why Newcastle would offer him another deal tbh he’s hardly kicked a ball for 2 years.’ (Newcastle allegedly offered Taylor a one year contract on much lower basic but with big incentives/bonuses).

‘I live in Newcastle so have seen him a lot over the years….stay well clear,he’s  injured all time and when plays is pretty shi*e.’

‘Better off with Elizabeth Taylor.’

‘The worst suggestion I’ve heard so far.’

‘Apparently been in contact with Barton.

Obviously not the greatest defender on the world but I’d take him up here.’

‘I think there’s better out there for the money, I wouldn’t lose sleep if the tims “beat us to him.”

‘Better than any of the defenders we have been linked with bar Kolo Toure, I would take him!’

‘Warburton hasn’t got one wrong yet. Can guarantee this would be the first. His injury problems aren’t just going to go away because of a change of scenery. The idea that these types can come up here and ‘stroll it’ is so inherently wrong.

Don’t touch this one with a barge pole, let Brendan have him.’
