West Brom are making headlines in the Newcastle United transfer speculation this week and I notice it has wound a few people up.

Comments of ‘why would any of our players go there’ etc etc.

It amused me seeing us now portrayed as a kind of feeder club for West Brom, with claims of interest in signing Moussa Sissoko quickly followed by Tony Pulis supposedly keen on meeting Andros Townsend’s release clause transfer fee.

I would quite like to keep Townsend but if he did leave, it wouldn’t bother me any more if he went to West Brom rather than Barcelona.

This appears to contradict a lot of Newcastle fans who think that if you do lose a player, it is more acceptable if it is a ‘big club’.

It reminds me of when we sold Jonathan Woodgate to Real Madrid and all the talk was of ‘Ooh it’s Real Madrid, obviously couldn’t stand in his way…’.

Well we could of and we should of. Newcastle had a great team at the time and I couldn’t understand why anybody thought it was acceptable to sell the best centre-back we’d had in living memory, no matter how injury prone he might have been.

The only club I would get upset about selling our players to, would be Sunderland.

Well when I say that, obviously I would pay one-way metro fares for the likes of Riviere, Coloccini, Gouffran and Thauvin to get themselves down to the Stadium of Light.

So Tony Pulis, give it your best shot because you don’t upset me, well only if you became Newcastle Manager that is…
