Jonas Gutierrez has once again found his mind drifting back to Newcastle United.

I can imagine him sitting there with a bottle of Newcastle Brown watching the sun go down in Spain or his native Argentina, getting all misty eyed as he thinks of Tyneside…

Jonas has once again said that the Newcastle fans are ‘always in my mind’ and that ‘we’ are going to fight to get back into the Premier League.

Isn’t it great when your football club and the people who follow it, really connect with one of the players.

Jonas Gutierrez says that he has ‘plenty confidence in Rafa’ to get the club back up and that Newcastle United ‘deserve to be in the Premier League’.

Whilst he makes clear his love for the club and the supporters (‘First the fans and the shirt’), there is somebody who isn’t remembered quite so fondly.

On the subject of Mike Ashley, Jonas says ‘No care about the owner, Newcastle is bigger than him’.

Hardly a surprise, after the disgraceful campaign orchestrated by Ashley against the player when he was dealing with testicular cancer. A tribunal ruling that the owner had broken the law concerning disability discrimination, with the level of compensation still to be decided.

Jonas Gutierrez via his Twitter account:

“Thanks Geordies, always in my mind, and we are going to fight to came back. Newcastle deserve be in the premier league.

First the fans and the shirt. No care about the owner. Newcastle is bigger than him, glad to be a little part of history of the club.

“Plenty confidence in Rafa to make the come back. Come on the toon.”
