Matt Ritchie will make it three Newcastle United signings in two days according to the club’s media partner.

Goalkeeper Matz Sels signed a five year on Wednesday morning, whilst Dwight Gayle is widely reported to be due on Tyneside for his medical today.

The Mirror say that their information is that Matt Ritchie will make that three signings in a couple of days, as along with Gayle he is set to be unveiled as a Newcastle player on Thursday.

Matt Richie got his first chance of Premier League football last season, having a decent season with four goals in 37 appearances (four of them as a sub), although there was a feeling his form tailed off as the season progressed – maybe not surprising as the Bournemouth team as a whole did the same in theirs and Ritchie’s first top flight campaign.

However, in the previous two seasons for the Cherries in the Championship Matt Ritchie was devastating, as well as numerous assists he scored 24 goals in 72 starts (plus four as a sub).

The Mirror report a £12m transfer fee is set to be paid for the winger who turns 27 in September, with Matt Ritchie set to be a replacement for Andros Townsend who appears to have decided Newcastle in the Championship isn’t for him.

When talking last week about where he was at in terms of transfers, Rafa Benitez revealed his frustrations with how long it was taking but had very positive news:

“We have three or four things ready, it is just that we have to start with the first one and we have two or three (transfers) that I think we can do in one week. But we can say nothing because the person that is responsible in this team is away.

“I want to say to our fans, we are working very hard. It is not easy the market because the prices are so high but we are fine. We can do our business and we have three or four things ready…and when I say ready, I mean really really nearly there, but we are waiting for someone that is working in another club and then he needs to come back and sign the documents.”
