The Remy Cabella story drags on and on.
France Football report that the midfielder is now the subject of an 8m euros offer from Besiktas.
After a season at Newcastle that produced only one goal, Cabella joined Marseille on loan for a season as part of the negotiations that brought Florian Thauvin to Tyneside.
A much publicised trigger in his loan deal was said to have been passed when Remy Cabella played a certain number of games, with confirmation of the permanent move set to officially happen this summer.
Despite Marseille making official announcements in recent days to confirm they have signed a number of players, there is still no word from them on Cabella.
The media in the UK have claimed in recent days that a £7.3m deal is now ‘official’ and France Football also mention in their article that he is now a Marseille player.
The fact that Remy Cabella was left out of the team in the final weeks of Marseille’s struggle against relegation would have tended to make you think they might have done everything they could to get out of any permanent deal, especially as their financial position is so desperate.
The France Football piece indicates that both Cabella and Marseille aren’t interested in the Besiktas offer, despite being able to offer the player Champions League football.
Whatever happens, I just hope that the Newcastle end of things is indeed watertight and Rafa Benitez will have that extra £7.3m to add to his spending fund this summer.
