19 players released by Premier League clubs for Newcastle to consider

The Premier League have confirmed all of the players released and retained by all last season’s 20 Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United.

Yesterday we published the list of the 42 players Newcastle United had retained, as well as the 25 NUFC scholars, and the released list – Steven Vincent Taylor.

Today though, we are looking at the players the other 19 Premier League clubs have released.

Are any of them worth Newcastle having a go at?

We have picked out 19 that could just maybe be worth a shout, comments welcome at the bottom – if any of the players below have been fixed up elsewhere in recent days then our apologies.

(The Premier League rules require that all clubs who were in the 2015/16 PL had to submit their retained and released lists to the Premier League by Saturday 21 May.

The Premier League official website says that ‘The information below is correct as of 21 May. A player’s status may have changed since that date’.)

Arsenal:

Flamini, Mathieu

Rosicky, Tomas

Crystal Palace:

Hangeland, Brede Paulsen

Mariappa, Adrian Joseph

Everton:

Hibbert, Anthony James

Osman, Leon

Pienaar, Steven

Liverpool:

Toure, Kolo Abib

Man City:

Demichelis, Martin Gaston

Man Utd:

Powell, Nicholas Edward

Southampton:

Ramirez Pereyra, Gaston Exequiel

Stoke:

Odemwingie, Peter

Sidwell, Steven James

Sunderland:

Fletcher, Steven Kenneth

Graham, Daniel Anthony William

West Brom:

Anichebe, Victor Chinedu

Sessegnon, Stephane

West Ham:

Lee, Elliot Robert

O’Brien, Joseph Martin

Three former Newcastle players have also been let go – Sylvain Distin (Bournemouth), Charles N’Zogbia (Aston Villa), Jose Enrique (Liverpool).

For my money, I reckon Joey O’Brien, Stephane Sessegnon, Gaston Ramirez, Kolo Toure, Brede Hangeland, Mathieu Flamini, Nick Powell and Steven Pienaar are all worth a look.
