Week 36 of the Premier League Power Rankings sees one Newcastle star move up to number seven and two others move into the top 50.
The Power Rankings are a system developed by Sky Sports to reflect a player’s performance over the previous five weeks (of games) – each preceding week is worth fewer points.
This means that the Power Rankings reflect the most in-form players of the moment, with your most recent match the most important and then working backwards/down in terms of importance.
After the win against Crystal Palace, Andros Townsend has moved from number 25 to number 7 in the latest Power Rankings.
The former Spurs winger has been in outstanding form, both scoring and making goals, and being the key figure in Newcastle giving themselves a chance of survival.
After his wonderful free-kick winner against Palace, there have been calls for him to be included in the England Euros squad with no other winger in better form, whilst Andros Townsend is also one of the nominations for April’s PFA player of the month.
Andros Townsend is in 7th place with 10,974 points, whilst two other Newcastle players’ recent form has also propelled them right up the power rankings. Nice to see it being defenders as well!
Step forward Jamaal Lascelles (23rd 8,057 points) and Vurnon Anita (41st 6,879 points).
After each set of matches the power rankings are updated, with a list of the top 50 players published.
