Newcastle loan star Adam Armstrong has one last chance of reaching 20 goals this season when Coventry visit Oldham on Sunday for the final match of the League One season.

Whilst Coventry can only finish eighth at best and their promotion hopes faded some weeks ago, Adam Armstrong has now picked up five personal awards.

Firstly, the 19 year old was named by his fellow professionals in the League One team of the season.

Secondly, the junior Coventry City fans (Junior Sky Blues) named him their player of the year recently.

Whilst on Wednesday night, Adam Armstrong picked up three further awards at the official end of season awards ceremony.

The Geordie striker was named young player of the year by the management staff.

Whilst with his 19 goals he was also named Coventry City’s top goalscorer.

Finally, Armstrong picked up the goal of the year award for a sublime 30 yard chip against Millwall.

Having scored twice on his debut against eventual champions Wigan, the Newcastle loan forward scored another two in his second game at Millwall.

Tony Mowbray has reflected on Adam Armstrong’s breakthrough season in first team senior football and said:

“Armstrong’s performances over 25-30 games were fantastic and everybody should remember that. Its difficult for anybody to bear the burden of having to score the goals, let alone a young boy who has just turned 19 (he only turned 19 in February.”

Congratulations to Adam Armstrong on a great season and we all look forward to him being a star for Newcastle in the future as he progresses.
