A tough season to be Newcastle fans, Mike Ashley eventually managing to do the almost impossible once again.

Seven years ago the owner orchestrated a relegation that looked all but impossible whilst this time a similar number of own goals off the pitch has managed to help repeat the trick.

The hope that Rafa Benitez will stay at St James Park is keeping the lid on things for the time being and news last night of ongoing talks means the vigil will continue.

In the meantime I had to share this classic below.

I have had it sent to me by a few other Newcastle fans, wording slightly different on some of them, so not sure who can claim credit for coming up with it but fair play to them.

Good to have a laugh anyway and as well as the joke aspect, it does sum up just how ridiculous this relegation has been.

A young Newcastle supporter eventually wakes up in hospital after nine months in a coma.

Dad: “Son, at last, you’ve woken up!! How do you feel?”

Son: “Never mind me, how did the Toon get on this season?”

Dad: “Well we did the double over Tottenham, undefeated against Manchester United, four points off Liverpool, took points off Chelsea and Manchester City, plus went six games unbeaten at the end of the season picking up 12 points from 18.”

Son: “Wow…so are we in the Champions League?”

Dad: “Emmmm”
