Let’s have a look at what you could have won…

Steve Bruce has been named as being high up on the short list to take the Newcastle job if Rafa Benitez departs.

The club’s approved media partner The Mirror reporting that the former Sunderland boss (and (former) Newcastle fan) has support amongst the club’s ‘football board’.

It’s like the bogeyman isn’t it, but instead of him being mentioned to scare kids into behaving, Steve Bruce is used to terrify Newcastle fans.

Imagine if we landed the fat oaf, we would then pretty much have had the full set of English managers who think they should have been destined for higher and better things: Sam Allardyce, Alan Pardew, Steve Bruce, Steve McClaren….John Carver.

Imagine going from the charm and integrity of Rafa Benitez, to the excuse-laden lard-arse that is Steve Bruce???

Ironically, Hull and Bruce still stand a chance of being in the Premier League next season anyway via the play-offs, something which would make the media claims null and avoid, although it appears to have missed the attention of most of the media who have covered this Steve Bruce ‘story’.

If the worst did happen and Rafa walked away from the Mike Ashley circus of horrors, you can just imagine the field day the press would have with Newcastle fans if Steve Bruce was in serious contention and even worse, actually got the job!

Just like the Fat Sam scenario and the post-Alan Pardew nonsense…Newcastle fans with ideas above their station as usual, slagging off a successful respected manager like Steve Bruce…

Tonight we may know our future in terms of relegation or survival, by Sunday teatime at the very latest anyway.

Let’s just hope it won’t be one of those extreme ‘Bullseye’ Jim Bowen type of moments, instead of the curtain pulling back to reveal Rafa Benitez in a speedboat, we are given the equivalent of BFH (Bus Fare Home) in Steve Bruce….
