No new Newcastle home shirt strip was launched for the final home game of the season, as has been the case in recent years.
With no news of any new strip on the horizon, only this morning a mock-up was circulated on social media of what a new Newcastle shirt could look like, if modelled on the same design as the new Borussia Dortmund strip (see below). The German club also having a deal with Puma.
At the moment, Puma are heavily promoting the upcoming Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund strips that they also are responsible for but not a single mention as to when any Newcastle one will be available or what it will look like.
There hadn’t even been any ‘leaked’ images, which is usually the case well before the end of the season, that is until now…
Monday afternoon has seen the Footy Headline website publish the image below, which they claim is the soon to be released new Newcastle home shirt before the end of May.
The website has a decent track record when leaking new strips for various clubs but no doubt we should find out very soon either way as to its authenticity.
Sadly Wonga is once again set to feature as this is the final year of their shirt sponsorship, although it won’t be on the new 2016/17 kids’ strips that are sold as the legal loan shark were forced to accept that this was inappropriate after sustained pressure.
A mock-up of what Newcastle’s new strip COULD look like, if based on the new Borussia Dortmund design:
