Adam Armstrong has today reached that magical 20 goal mark in his first ever season of first team football.

After a three month goal drought since goals number 18 and 19 against Bury on 13 February, the Newcastle loan striker has today scored number 20.

Coventry went one up in the 75th minutes and six minutes later it was Adam Armstrong celebrating as he made sure of the three points, the Sky Blues beating Oldham 2-0.

The travelling Coventry fans had been willing the Geordie striker to reach the milestone and after coming close on a number of occasions, he produced yet another classy finish, Armstrong beating the offside trap and calmly shooting past the home keeper for that extra special goal.

After a so so disappointing effort yesterday by Newcastle United, at least one small positive as hopefully one of of our stars of the future takes a few more steps up the ladder of progress.

Following the game, Coventry boss Tony Mowbray had this to say:

“There were lots of aspects to be pleased with today. Adam Armstrong got his 20th goal, so all in all a decent day.

“I think to the supporters of the club an apology really, for the fact that we fell away at the end of the season.

“Try to stick with us as we try to build a team next year to get this club back where we want to be.”
