I have been a Newcastle fan for six decades and have seen hardly any success, apart from 1969 and the old Fairs Cup win.
I was elated by the Keegan years and some of Sir Bobby Robson’s time at the Toon.
I have endured some bad times at the club, for example the Bill McGarry years stand out as total dross – but through these years and other bad times, I always had hope that things would improve and usually they did.
However, as a Newcastle fan I look at the club now and I am in total despair because of the following…
It is likely that we will be relegated unless a miracle occurs.
We do not have the fighters in the team needed to come straight back up.
Mike Ashley has declared the kitty is empty at NUFC.
We don’t have many players that other clubs would want at the prices we would need to recoup, if we wanted to sell them.
While Ashley will keep Charnley, Carr and Moncur as his football board.
Then on top of this we will be looking for another new manager as Rafa will probably leave.
Rafa needs to make clear very soon if he is staying if we go down – because there are a couple of managers knocking around who are better suited than others in bringing teams up from the Championship and we need to make sure we get one of them before others do.
If we do take the drop I would love Rafa to stay and for Ashley to give him full control and the required funding to reshape and rebuild our great club.
I think this a long shot though, so let’s hope we somehow stay up.
